About Me
Hi, I’m Susan! I live out in the country with my husband and crafty partner, Lelon, who can build ANYTHING in this world out of wood. We have a four-legged son named Buddy who keeps both of us on some sort of a schedule because he requires things like water and food. We have five kids between us who are grown and out of the house (you have to add that these days) and they’ve brought us nine grandkids in total. A loooong time ago, I used to work as an administrative assistant for the State of Texas. I knew all kinds of technology things like WordPerfect and how to use Excel. Today, my brain won’t even work that way because I have been an artist for so long! We’ll see how well I do with this whole blogging thingy.
When I worked for the state, we lived where we do now, which is about an hour and a half outside of Fort Worth, Texas. Each day, I would rise really early and drive to work and dream of doing my arts and crafts as more than a hobby. All of those dreams must have worked because I have been an artist for nearly two DECADES now! I can’t even believe how fast the time has flown by. That’s what being art crazy will do for you. I don’t think of myself as an artist, really, or at least not in the traditional way. I love to work with my hands and do crafts such as fiber art, woodworking, metal work and anything that has anything to do with glass, glitter and beads. I’m a junk enthusiast and am obsessed with collecting anything and everything – among my many favorites: vintage buttons, old silverware, cowboy and cowgirl memorabilia, christmas tree stands, kitchen utensils. My brain works in quirky ways and spits out tons of ideas each day, most of which I don’t get to paper, but a lot are pretty good. I create things that are one of a kind and that are BUILT to LAST, not just thrown together. Some days I travel the back roads between where we live just outside of Weatherford letting my curiosity take me to whatever I can get myself into. Most days I have fun creating whatever I can dream up. Life is an adventure – just never know where you are going to end up!
Can you have enough vintage buttons, beads and stuff?
I love old hymnals, bibles and children’s books.
